How To: Use your iPhone to Setup Internet Tethering, for a Windows PC, or a Mac

Tethering, using your iPhone is now supported by both AT&T, and Verizon. Using a Mac, (with OS X 10.5.8 or later) or a Windows computer running Windows XP (with service pack 3 or later) Windows Vista, or Windows 7 and a USB 2.0 port. The latest version of iTunes is also required, no jailbreaking is needed. 

For tethering via Bluetooth requires all of the specs listed above, and Bluetooth Adapter activated on your computer, and iPhone, and your iPhone must be paired with your computer.

On your iPhone, tap Settings > General > Network > Internet Tethering to check that your carrier supports it, set “Internet Tethering” to “on” If this option isn't shown, and you're sure tethering is supported by your carrier, start iTunes (with your iPhone connected) and install the Carrier settings update.
